Special Needs Transportation
- Special Education students represent a growing portion of the student population, often requiring specially equipped buses and bus routes to specialized schools. Qualified employees of Student Transportation of America have experience in providing attentive and caring service for children with special needs.
- Each year, STA managers attend the NAPT Special Needs Transportation Training conference to help complete their NAPT Special Needs Endorsement Certification. The NAPT program has a core curriculum that consists of six courses, including Safety Restraint Systems, Medications on the Bus, and Managing Behaviors. These courses are designed to increase specific knowledge about transporting students with special needs.
- In addition to industry standard Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel training, all of our drivers receive supplemental training through STA’s innovative web-based learning system, ST University. The ST University catalog of online courses includes comprehensive Special Needs training that includes Autism Awareness, Seizure Disorders, and Special Needs Bus Evacuation Procedures.
